KRS CONSIST EDITOR PROGRAM
       by timetraveller
========================================

KRS Consist Editor (KRSCE) is a program which will allow you to make user consists outside of Rail Simulator. It will display currently saved user consists, allowing you to edit them. It will also display every consist used in every scenario in every route, which may then be edited and saved as a seperate user consist (though not edited for the scenario itself). You can also delete user consists. A new "Details" window will give you much detailed information on each unit in the game, such as loaded/unloaded weights in Imperial or Metric measurement units, friction coefficients, coupler types, etc.

Program has been developed and tested on Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2.

WARNING
------------------------
This program is a game hacker program. In some cases, it will modify Rail Simulator game files. It has been tested extensively, however I am not responsible for damage incurred to your Rail Simulator install. Back up your game!

INSTALLING
------------------------
Unzip the downloaded file and click on the setup.exe to install KRSCE. Install may be done over top any pre-existing KRSCE installation. If newer versions come out, this is what to do.

>>> Important!
Be sure the file serz.exe (installed by the RS game to your \RailSimulator folder) has been copied into your Windows\system32 folder.

INITIAL START UP
------------------------
Click on the Desktop icon for initial startup of the program.

This program requires you to set up the file path to the Rail Simulator game .exe file, RailSim.exe. Do this first.

After setting up the game path, KRSCE will compile details about each route and its scenarios.

GENERAL USE
------------------------
>>> Choose your unit weight display preference
Unit weights (engine, wagon, tender, etc.) can be displayed in either Imperial or Metric format. On the toolbar, click on Edit|Preferences|Unit Weight and choose the method that suits you.

>>> Creating consists
Be sure to read the Tips in the Tips window. These are a description of how the Yard Master buttons work to create consists.

>>> Filters, couplers, etc.
The locomotive and wagon display list can be filtered by provider (like Kuju), product (like RailSimulatorUS), and by unit type (loco, freight, passenger, etc.). It is also filtered by coupler type. Click the Show Filter button at the upper right to show the Coupling Filter panel. By checking or unchecking the different types, you can further filter the unit list being displayed.

>>> Opening RS User Consists
RS (Rail Simulator) user consists are the consists you have created in the RS game. They reside in a file named ConsistsTemplates.bin, in the \Content folder. With KRS Consist Editor, you can read them, create them too, modify them, and save them to the same file. They are then immediately available for use in the game. You can also delete previously made user consists.

>>> Opening RS Scenario Consists
RS (Rail Simulator) scenario consists are the consists within each route scenario in the RS game. They reside in the scenario files, scenario.bin, defining each scenario. With KRS Consist Editor, you can read them, display them, modify them and save them as a seperate user consist (though not edited for the scenario itself). They are then immediately available for use in the game.

>>> The Equipment List
The first time KRSCE is run it will build an equipment list, scouring the game for locos, tenders, freight wagons, and passenger wagons. Successive starts of KRSCE will read this compiled equipment list to save startup time. If you install new units, or modify existing ones, be sure to refresh the equipment list under the Edit toolbar item "Refresh Equipment List".

NOTES
------------------------
Don't forget, left clicking a consist unit selects it.

Right clicking any unit in the consist reverses its direction.

Center clicking a consist unit will center the consist on that unit (so will ctrl+left-click).

Clicking a background area on the main window deselects the selected consist unit.

Double click any unit item in the Unit Details window and the folder where its .bin file resides will open for you.
